Secret Service, Yoo Hoo, Over Here!

This sort of thing is disgusting. I sincerely fear one of these nut jobs is going to do something truly horrendous. I lived through the assassinations of President Kennedy, RFK and Martin Luther King. To wish or hope for such a thing is beyond treason. It's inhuman and evil.
To associate such sentiments with the Star of David is especially disgusting.
This is an abuse of free speech just as much as yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theatre. It should earn a visit from the Secret Service PDQ.

Who's Laughing Now?

And they want to put him on Mount Rushmore?!?!?!?
We're still counting up the damage.
Remember when ketchup was a vegetable?
African-Americans only wanted loose shoes, good sex and a warm place to go to the bathroom?
Facts are stupid things?
Pollution from trees kills more people than pollution from automobiles?
Just say no?
The Average American's attention-span is dangerously shortened by rank self interest.
They really do get the government they deserve. Fools.

Meeping Marklars!
MEEP!
Don't know what it means? Don't worry -- most people over the age of 22 don't either.
A school principal threatens to suspend students who mimic a Muppet character.
But the nonsense word -- which apparently started with the 1980s Muppet character Beaker -- is causing a lot of teeth-gnashing for adults at one Massachusetts high school. They have gone so far as to threaten suspension for students caught meeping.
Now the police and lawyers are involved. From Jonathan Turley:
After reading the recent publications over the decision of the principal of Danvers High School banning students from saying the word “Meep,” Entertainment lawyer Theodora Michaels decided to act and wrote a letter using the four-letter word to Principal Thomas Murray, who comes across as a high school version of Dean Vernon Wormer from Animal House. She was immediately reported to the police for investigation by the school.
The comments at FARK are worth a look: "He embiggened this problem by using a very non-cromulent solution."
When marklars attempt to restrict the marklars of young marklars, all marklar can break out. If you keep a cool marklar when all about you marklars are losing their marklar you can achieve your marklar and set a good marklar for the young marklars. Marklar!

Outrage - HBO Documentary
They fight against same-sex marriage, AIDS research and adoption by gay parents. But are they fighting themselves? This eye-opening film explores the disturbing phenomenon of allegedly closeted gay politicians who vote down pro-gay legislation--and get a free pass from the media. Probing the hidden lives of some of the country's most powerful policymakers, the film examines how these politicians may have betrayed the confidence of American voters by denying the truth about themselves...and how the media has been complicit in keeping these secrets. The hypocrisy on display is jaw-dropping. Please plan to watch.

Dear Mr. President

My email to the President:
After 35+ years as a health care provider, I want to let you know that I am strongly in favor of single-payer.
And now I hear you are about to cede the Public Option to the children who holler the loudest.
Shame on you, sir, shame.
This is, in the end, a National Security issue.
Be strong, do the right thing, you'll have no regrets.
Let us down, your re-election and the election of real Democrats becomes much less likely.
And we, as a nation, cannot afford to return to the policies of those who have robbed the middle-class blind, lied us into war, broken the law, diminished our world standing, trampled on the Constitution and turned us, one against the other, for their own selfish gain.
You were elected, by us, to do a job, as a man of principle.
Stand up for those principles, fight the good fight and we're with you.
Lead, sir, for god sake, lead.
Respectfully, M. Z. (GOPnot4me.Blogspot.com)

I asked for a reply. If received, it will be posted.
I'm pretty pissed right now.
And I can assure you, tomorrow will bring our clinic more battles with those greedy bastards at the insurance companies, their minimum wage claim deniers and the for-profit bureaucrats that pay them to give the subscriber and provider the least they can legally get away with.
I wonder how hard it is to learn Danish?

World's Smallest Political Quiz
Short and sweet. Try it.
Must be accurate. Thinks I'm a liberal. Duh.
"LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles."
National Health Insurance - Harry Truman's Most Bitter Disappointment

"In my message to the Congress of September 6, 1945, there were enumerated in a proposed Economic Bill of Rights certain rights which ought to be assured to every American citizen.
One of them was: "The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health." Another was the "right to adequate protection from the economic fears of . .. sickness ...."
"...We should resolve now that the health of this Nation is a national concern; that financial barriers in the way of attaining health shall be removed; that the health of all its citizens deserves the help of all the Nation. " (see Truman Library)
Truman later wrote: “Democracy thrives on debate and political differences. But I had no patience with the reactionary selfish people and politicians who fought year after year every proposal we made to improve the people’s health. I have had some bitter disappointments as President, but the one that has troubled me most, in a personal way, has been the failure to defeat the organized opposition to a national compulsory health-insurance program. . . . The vast majority of the people have no such organized voice speaking for them.” (Alliance for Democracy)
64 years and counting. This is ridiculous and I've had enough. I'm mad as hell and we shouldn't have to take this anymore.
