Obama's First 100 Minutes - Mad Magazine Cover

I had a subscription to Mad Magazine more than 40 years ago and awaited each issue with breathless anticipation of something even more outrageous than ever before.

A favorite feature was their warped take on the popular or pompous movies of the day. The send-ups of Ben Hur and Lawrence of Arabia being especially memorable.

And let's not forget those slightly subversive Fold-In's!

Darth Cheney, Schmuck til the Bitter End ?

Perhaps the unmitigated disaster that was aWol's administration has made me permanently cynical but not for one minute do I think that Cheney's "back injury" necessitated the use of a wheel chair.

The notion he put out his back doing any sort of manual labor is laughable. The only thing he's lifted in quite some time is his leg on the Bill of Rights.

No, gentle reader, it was, I believe, purely and simply, a final gesture of disrespect. To the new president and the office he now holds. To us and to our democracy. Darth manufactured a ruse to avoid having to stand, respectfully, in the presence of the new president.

Before him stands a man vested with our nation's hope. The embodiment of repudiation. With a mandate as clear as a jury's verdict and more than 2+ million citizen supporters giving urgent voice to an overwhelming desire to try another way.

And one more time he quite clearly says, "So?".

Happy New Year! Start it with a laugh. I had forgotten how funny Foster Brooks could be and this is a terrific example. I laughed so hard I had tears comin' on.
